Somerset County Drama Festival

If you love drama then you’ll love this festival!

Over two days, five local drama groups will compete to win 11 trophies, the most prestigious being the Somerset County Shield for the Best Production in Somerset. You will see the best of amateur drama in Somerset as each group will present their one act plays at the highest standard. Everyone is keen to demonstrate their superb directing, acting, technical and playwriting skills!

 

The groups taking part are Taunton Thespians, @2K, St Philip and St James Drama Group, Clevedon School and Ilminster Entertainments Society. The festival will take place over two days and there will be 3 plays in each session. At the end of each session each play will be adjudicated by Annie Rees GoDA who is an experienced adjudicator from the Guild of Drama Adjudicators. The festival will close on Sunday evening with an awards ceremony which will definitely be the highlight of the two days.

 

Ticket prices are a snip at £9.50 per session and £16.00 for a day ticket.

The County Drama Festival is the preliminary round of the All England Theatre Festival and the winner will go through to the semi-final for the West of England at the Merlin Theatre in Frome on 11th May 2024. The English Final will be the 8th June at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead. The British Final is 12 – 13th July at The Perth Theatre in Scotland.
